Prolific bedroom-pop artist Pet Grotesque is releasing a new mixtape this Friday. A follow up of sorts to his 2017 debut LP Good Egg, Good Egg 2 is said to be more of a sketchbook than his previous releases. This concept is encapsulated well by a succinct early taste 'Oogie's March (feat. Pixx)'. At just over a minute, upbeat acoustic guitar strums cradle Pet Grotesque's candid opening lyrics: 'When you're hot you're hot, it's a f***ing melting pot'. Swiftly joined by Pixx's philosophical refrain, 'a heap of broken images, thats what this is', there's detectable influences from the likes of Dean Blunt and even Dirty Projectors, most noticeable from the manipulation of the vocals.
